Eat food that will love you back
Since I began my Keto way of eating back in 2017, the definition of "food" has dramatically changed.
Food is no longer just a source of energy or a means to lose weight quickly. It has become a natural medicine to heal our bodies and a tool to nourish ourselves for optimal health. Choosing the right foods helps us feel good and achieve various life goals.
As a woman, diets and methods to stay in shape/lose weight are always hot topics. However, what about our health? Being on Keto for almost 7 years, I've found a balance in nourishing my body, enjoying time with family and friends, while staying in shape as I approach peri-menopause.
So what's the trick? It's all about planning and having a healthy mindset. Most of us have been through stages where we feel restricted in what we can eat. However, we learn and adapt. We educate ourselves to understand that we're not restricting ourselves; rather, we choose not to overdo or consume certain foods because we know they aren't good for our bodies. As we age, if we don't take care of our diet and stay active, our immunity weakens.
Recently I read Dr. Will Cole's book "The Gut Feeling." One sentence that stood out and illuminated how we can consistently return to Keto: "Eat food that will love you back." It's a simple formula: choose foods that make you feel good. Always remember not to let a temporary goal create new problems later on. Find balance, eat right most of the time, and enjoy everything else in moderation.
