PHO-Sure Spice Kit -MILD has well and truly become my favourite of the summer pantry range.
Creating this kit and recipe made me realise that simple spices when combined in the right proportions and combination can produce delicious flavours. Creating this kit proved my taste buds wrong in many ways. It was also a relief to the palate to taste something other than a stew or curry that is tomato based.
It was delicious, giving me the flexibility to have it fresh and light or even use it in winter as a hearty broth. It's easy to bulk and load with plenty of veggies and protein to create a hearty meal. The secret to a good PHO is the dry roasting of the spices before hand. Thanks to my lovely customer Han Nguyen for her secret tip, it worked a treat.
The Phở or pho is a Vietnamese soup consisting of broth, rice noodles, herbs, and meat and sometimes chicken. Pho is a popular food in Vietnam where it is served in households, street stalls and restaurants countrywide. Pho is considered Vietnam's national dish. I have been told that the PHO is also made in the north but the south PHO is very different, and it can even vary in each household.
